Today I want to share a few of the shoulder mobility moves I do with the TRX. It’s one of my favorite tools of all time.

If you are a person who does rotational sports such as golf or tennis, these are great for keeping the shoulders happy.

If you are in a sport that is not so rotational, such as running or biking, these are great exercises to keep the shoulders from getting stuck in one position by keeping the mid spine flexible.

For those of you who train with me, this is a good review of our first 4 warm-up exercises.

As usual, these exercises should be done in the pain-free range of motion. Keep the shoulders away from the ears during all movements and breathe! All movements can be done 30 sec or 12-15 reps. Have fun! Let me know what you think!

Pec Stretch – Doorway Stretch:

  • Face away from the attachment.
  • Press into the handles, gently keeping tension in the TRX straps.
  • Start in an airplane arm stretch.
  • Step forward with one foot as if stepping thru a doorway.
  • If you feel a slight pull in the chest and armpit area, be gentle and start with handles in front of you.

Pec Stretch With Arms Above:

  • The same movement from above, with a step forward.
  • Bring the hands up like jumping jacks, meeting in the middle.

Golf Swing – Single Arm:

  • Facing towards the attachment – start with the handles about hip height.
  • Swing the right arm up and away.
  • Do a few with your head down and a few while watching your hands.
  • Hips should be square and shoulders away from the ears.
  • Do the other side.

Golf Swing With Two Arms:

  • Facing towards the attachment- do the same motion as above but swing with both arms.
  • Pivot the inside foot so the hip rotates, not the low back.
  • Belly button should point towards the direction of the swing.
